Over-exploitation of the world’s fish resources has caused serious decline in fish populations, and the Nereus Program has been developed to address these issues through Simulations, Capacity building and Public Awareness.

James Watson presents at McGill University

James Watson gave a talk entitled, "Flow, Fish and Fishing: an analysis of the link between physics, ecology and human behavior in marine systems ", at McGill Unversity this past September.

James Watson gave a presentation on "Earth System Modelling and Global Marine Food-security" at the American Fisheries Society at St. Paul River Center.

Nereus First Science Meeting in Vancouver

Nereus has held the First Nereus Science Meeting at University of British Columbia in Vancouver. All fellows and PIs (including NF representatives) gathered and discussed how to save the future ocean.  The program also held a symposium at AAAS, titled Predicting Future Ocean - Nereus Program.  The story was covered by AAAS Live Chat.
