Dates: 23 – 25 October 2019
Location: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy
Nereus Program director (science) William Cheung (UBC), fellow Tyler Eddy (Memorial University of Newfoundland), program manager Vicky Lam (UBC) and Eddie Allison are all participating in the first meeting of the FishMIP Scenarios Working Group at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy. The workshop will includ approximately 20 international participants from IRD (France), FAO (Italy), IIASA (Austria), CSIRO (Australia), Queen Mary University (London, England), and other institutions.
Objectives: The aim of the workshop is to extend the Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSP) based oceanic system pathway (OSP) storylines to global fisheries, and then identify and quantify key economic drivers to project the change in future fisheries under different pathways. This is done by combing them with corresponding RCPs, using different models at both global and regional scales. The meeting also aims to downscale and adapt the scenarios at the local scales.
