Nereus Fellow Julia Mason will be defending her Ph.D. dissertation on November 15th, at 2:00pm PST at Stanford University. According to Julia, she will be discussing “exploring the challenges and opportunities presented by diverse stakeholder perspectives in managing pelagic predator fisheries. In particular, I will be discussing community-level consequences of spatial management in California’s swordfish fishery and opportunities for incorporating fishers’ local ecological knowledge in managing a juvenile hammerhead shark fishery in Peru.” Her defense will be live streamed, and you can register to attend at this link (which will also be available on Nereus’s Facebook and Twitter pages). You can read more on Hopkins Marine Station events page.
