The Nereus Program will be hosting a side event at the 3rd Preparatory Committee Meeting on Marine Biological Diversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) March 27-April 7 in New York. The side event entitled “Adjacency: How legal precedent, ecological connectivity, and traditional knowledge inform our understanding of proximity” will take place on April 4. Principal Investigator Daniel Dunn (Duke), Fellow Guillermo Ortuno-Crepo (Duke), and Principal Investigator Patrick Halpin (Duke) along with partners from other institutions will be giving presentations and facilitating discussion surrounding State governance in areas of the high seas adjacent to their Economic Exclusive Zones (EEZs).
