News item Marine Policy article

Solène Guggisberg has published the article ‘Funding coastal and marine fisheries projects under the climate change regime’ in a special issue of Marine Policy on Funding for Ocean Conservation and Sustainable Fisheries.

The article identifies the number of projects related to marine and coastal fisheries that are financed under the four multilateral funds created under the climate change adaptation regime. It analyses the types of measures encompassed in such projects, how comprehensive they are in response to the complexity of climate change’s impacts on fisheries, and whether particularly vulnerable countries are the recipients of such support. The article finally discusses issues of transparency in the multilateral funds’ dealings, which cause problems of accountability and efficiency that have impacts well beyond the fisheries sector.

The article, currently in press, is available online.
